Lars Mikkelsen-3-1024x657Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen, born 6 May 1964 is a Danish actor. He has appeared as Troels Hartmann (Copenhagen mayoral election candidate) in The Killing and [1] Charles Augustus Magnussen (third series of Sherlock) in the third series of Sherlock, as the Russian president Viktor Petrov on Netflix's American House of Cards, and Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars Rebels. He was given the Reumert Prize of Honour in 2011. At the age of 27 He enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated from that school in 1995. He was also a part of The Killing's drama series. In the following years, he played in Borgen III and Those Who Kill two critically acclaimed Danish drama series. He was the President of Russia in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 in recognition of his role in the Danish TV drama Herrens Veje. The show aired in the UK in 2019 as Ride Upon the Storm.
